Development Officers Positions

 

JOB TITLE:                                 Development Officer x 2 (Full Time)                 

                                                                                        

REPORTS TO:                                        Board of Cricket Gold Coast

JOB SUMMARY

 

The Development Officer role is to provide support to a number of clubs in the Cricket Gold Coast competition.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

 

The Development Officer will be required to report on a regular basis to the executive committee of all the cricket clubs within their allocated cluster, as well as reporting to the board of Cricket Gold Coast.

 

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Training and support to ensure long term sustainability through the development of management principles, strategic plans and a policy & procedure manual.
  2. Facilitate training for volunteers in youth issues, health & nutrition and sports injury management.
  3. Education and assistance to develop strategies to obtain grants and sponsorship and to identify other fundraising opportunities.
  4. Identify and provide pathways for junior cricketers to progress into senior ranks, and to assist clubs to guide talented players to higher levels.
  5. Facilitate the delivery Cricket Gold Coast, Queensland Cricket and Cricket Australia programs such as In 2 Cricket, The Spirit of Cricket and various coaching and education programs.
  6. Liaise with the local council and provide assistance in targeting growth areas and strategies to recruit new players and volunteers to the sport.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

 

Extensive experience working with not-for-profit clubs or similar environment;

Excellent administration and communication skills, supported by previous experience or a tertiary degree;

Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite, and various internet based applications.

Proven ability to work in an autonomous environment;

 

 

 

 

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Working with Children Blue Card

Must have own vehicle and current drivers license.

Minimum Level 1 Cricket Australia Coaching Accreditation (Preferred but not essential)

Competition Format - 2011/12

Cricket Gold Coast is pleased to announce the format of The Gabba Sporting Products Cup 1st Grade Competition for 2011/12.  After calling for submissions for all clubs previously represented in the 1st Grade Competition, the board has determined the 1st Grade Competition for 2011/12 will be contested by the following eight clubs, and it is planned that all clubs will play each other in a two day and one day match.

  • Alberton
  • Broadbeach-Robina
  • Mudgeeraba Nerang
  • Palm Beach-Currumbin
  • Queens
  • Runaway Bay
  • Southport-Labrador
  • Surfers Paradise-Benowa

There has also been a promotion / relegation system implemented, where clubs who are not currently in 1st grade have the chance to gain entry after a successful season in 2nd grade.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade competition will feature a mix of one and two day matches, with 1st grade and 2nd grade and the majority of 3rd grade matches played on turf wickets,  4th, 5th and possibly 6th grade, depending on team numbers, will be a one day competition played on synthetic wickets.

The season will kick off on Saturday 8th October.

Premier Grade Proposal

On Tuesday 31st May, all clubs met to discuss a proposal that has been developed regarding the format of the senior cricket competition for 2011/12.

The proposal is attached and all clubs are invited to review and provide feedback to the secretary of Cricket Gold Coast eleventy8@bigpond.com no later than 7th June.  Clubs are asked to provide solutions or alternatives to concerns raised and supply constructive criticism to help Cricket Gold Coast develop the best possible format for the coming season.
